Overview

Kwip is an AI startup focused on leveraging the power  of AI to transform knowledge consumption. Kwip's goal is to provide users with more insights in less time from all forms of content - text, videos, websites, and PDFs.

As the founding designer, I led the end-to-end process of designing an intuitive product experience that allows people to efficiently grasp the essence of content through Kwip's AI capabilities. I conducted user research, established coherent design patterns and components in a design system, and drove the ideation of new features to meaningfully improve user experiences.

Enhanced AI User Experience

AI Exploration

Kwip began as a passion project envisioned by founder Kenton Parton, who saw untapped potential in AI capabilities. Kwip’s mission is to empower everyday users through more expansive, yet intuitive AI features. I joined as lead product designer shortly after launching Kwip's initial web app MVP. I kickstarted a human-centered design process by leading user research to unlock insights, then synthesized key findings to evolve the product experience from functionally-driven to intuitively user-focused.

Guiding Users to Successful Inputs

Prompt Templates

One key insight from user research showed that many users struggled with writing prompts. This feature allows users to be able to select a goal, and the modal serves up tailored, pre-written prompts to effectively guide them in structuring successful inputs.

Facilitating Social Sharing

Share Chat Link

User research revealed the importance of social sharing capabilities. Kwip's share feature enables users to send full chat histories via link to contacts. Recipients can then easily explore the conversation, including questions and AI-generated responses.

Next Steps

As AI companies raced to broaden capabilities, we returned to our research insights, which revealed our standout strength in summarizing lengthy content into concise insights. Rather than match catch-all improvements, we embraced this niche opportunity through a renewed mission: helping users effortlessly extract key information from long-form content across mediums.
